Microplastic pollution in Chinese urban rivers: The influence of urban factors

چکیده
Microplastics are being widely discussed as an emerging global environmental contaminant. Microplastic pollution usually originates from land-based sources, which then mainly transported through hydrological and atmospheric pathways accumulated in terrestrial, freshwater marine ecosystems. Urban environments represent a condensed area of human activities (including the production use plastic materials), urban rivers may therefore be key transporter microplastic pollution. Understanding abundances is potentially important finding effective means reducing fluvial discharge. This study quantified surface waters along Fenghua River, Ningbo, coastal megacity East China. was distributed unevenly river, with concentrations ranging 300 n/m3 to 4000 (0.3 – 4.0 n/L). Average concenterations were 1620.16 ± 878.22 (1.62 0.88 n/L) summer (43 sampling points) 1696.08 983.52 (1.70 0.98 winter (17 points). The most common shapes, sizes, colors types polymers fiber, <0.5mm, transparent polypropylene, respectively. Using multidimensional scaling analysis, distribution patterns related seasonal factors levels urbanization. No clear relationships found, implications for site selection when studying microplastics challenges attributing sources rivers.

Persistent pollutants urban rivers sediment survey: implications for pollution control.
The impacts of diffuse urban sources of pollution on watercourses are quantified. A survey of nine urban streams in Scotland for persistent pollutants in stream sediments is described, together with sediments from SUDS ponds. Determinands reported are: PAHs, total hydrocarbons, and toxic metals (As, Zn, Ni, Pb, Cu, Cr, Cd). Results highlight hydrocarbons as a major urban pollutant, and show sig...
متن کاملClassification of urban rivers on the basis of water pollution indicators in river sediment.
Urban rivers are polluted with discharge from sewage treatment plants and overflowing sewage caused by rainfall (Nix and Merry, 1990; Shiraris et al., 1987). These waste waters accelerate eutrophication of aquatic environments. Since urban river water is the public water supply source, it is an i~0ortant for public health issue to determine whether or not urban rivers are polluted with fecal ef...
متن کاملRestoration challenges for urban rivers.
Urban sources account for significant quantities of important diffuse pollutants, and urban watercourses are typically badly polluted. As well as toxic metals, hydrocarbons including PAHs, and suspended matter, priority urban pollutants include faecal pathogens and nutrients. Can urban watercourses be restored by sufficient reductions in pollution loads? Case studies in the UK and Sweden provid...

One of the Challenging problems of Tehran metropolitan region is Air pollution. Suburban expansion in the form of sprawl patterns have created the travels and transportations, due to the dependence on personal vehicles contributes more than 85 percent of creators of air pollution. The article studied the role of transportation in emergence of urban air pollution in Tehran metropolitan region, h...
متن کاملInfluence of meteorological parameters on urban and suburban air pollution
A study was carried out to investigate the effects of meteorological conditions on atmospheric pollutant concentrations in a complex area. In general serious pollution episodes in the urban and suburban environment are not directly caused by sudden increases in the emission of pollutants but results from unfavorable meteorological conditions, These unfavorable conditions may reduce the ability ...
